That was really cool :)

I'm still kinda getting used to dubstep. It's always been kinda weird to me, but this definitely sounds great with the drums and I-don't-know-whats you got in there. Sounds pretty chiptune-y as well if I may say so. Some of the sounds reminds me of A New Horizon although the song itself is different, including more than a couple of lines of vocals. Again, different; not better/worse.

Glad to see ya back on your feet, and I totally had a crush on Shakira when I was a kid, so it's funny to see this :) Happy new year, and good luck on your style! In my opinion it sounds like you're close if you aren't there already :)

Peace.

NemesisTheory responds:

Thanks! I'm partial to the "I-don't-know-whats"-em's as well! xD

Btw, haha, I think almost every guy had a crush on Shakira back then! ;p

This might be my favorite non-piano track yet. This one and N-dorphine. THUMBS UPPP!! :]

I love the name for the song, I feel like it fits the song way too well. I like this song a lot, but hey, there's not really too much new about that. Your songs still have a very Ocularnebula feel to them. As in if anyone else decided to copy your style it would be noticed as it has a very Ocularnebulaish feel to it x] (although it probably wouldn't be the same, as you do it very, very well it would seem)
Keep doing your work, I love a lot of what you're coming out with, and you come out with it really fast, which just makes it even better.
Sometimes I wonder what you do to be able to make all of this O.O'

OcularNebula responds:

I do a lot of speed

IT'S ALIVE!! :3
Danceworthy, fast paced(which I like), buuuut kinda gets old. As in the part that felt like it got repeated got old. Other parts were awesome. And so was that part until it got old, obviously. Hokay. More, please :3<3

Also; There should be a comment section for smug jokes and stupid nonsense, I feel like :c If I didn't have anything better to say I'd never been able to make the stupid "It's alive" joke :|

I love your piano pieces so much. Look forward to the ones to come :] Kind of a random question; which type of track/which genre do you find easiest to make, and which genre do you enjoy making the most? (those are two different questions, by the way :))

Thank you, and have a nice day.
And again: love your piano pieces.

OcularNebula responds:

These are very open ended questions. I wouldn't tap into the genres that I do, if I didn't think there was something interesting to be represented in all of them. I'd say that the fewer elements you can manipulate, the more difficult it is to make a song interesting. So if I'm writing something for only piano, I am limited in that I can only use a piano, but it also means that there are no distractions from the harmony and counterpoint that is being presented.

On the other hand, dance tracks have more elements - ie: bass, kick, percussion, lead, fx, sweeps, and you have to keep in mind structural elements like intros, breaks, buildups. But each of these elements are relatively easy to construct on their own, so there is more focus on putting them together.

Then, there are the miscellaneous pieces that I do, some of which are intentionally experimental, and some of which just don't quite fit into any genre. These are usually fun to make, though sometimes I feel like many of them are misfit pieces that I could have made into something more defined.

The genre I want to write at any given time depends a lot on what I'm in the mood for, as each genre requires different thought processes. Sometimes I just sit down at my piano and mess around for hours not even knowing whether I'll end up creating anything worth posting, and other times I'm motivated to create something electronic with a dance feel that I intend to be "popular", something that will appeal to fans of the genre.

I think it's very important for musicians to be willing to be eclectic, even if they are not consistently so.

M--m-m-m-mooooore Megaman remixes from you guys!??!?! :D:D:D:D Thank youuuuuu :3<3
It's always nice to hear that something new is coming up from you guys. In fact, so nice that when I saw the tweet this morning I literally yelped in class, and it got me yelled at (nothin' serious), but that's a whole 'nother story.

I'm not sure if I like the huge change of bpm that happens between Battle track 02 and Title track 01. Otherwise the loops go together neatly. That'd be me though, not sure how that sounds to other peoples ears. Other than the amazing sound of chiptune, obviously. ... Aaaaand I don't know what else to say about that. Trust me, there was a lot more typing that went into this paragraph than what it is now xD

Anywayyyys, I've missed these kinds of tracks while you've been experimenting with the previous songs you guys have posted, I've obviously grown to love them, because of course I'll grow to like your songs as long as there is something to love about them. It's great that you managed to save them. Always hoping for more of these kinds of songs, and mmmnngnrrr, dat guitar thang >:D (yes, eargasms transfer to text. Don't question it.)

Aaaaaand now I'mna stop writing this review and go back to chilling to the music because it took way too much backspace and a-z to write this. Have a nice day, and as always; thanks for the tunes ;)

PS: Butts.

PPS: I should never be given a caffeine+chiptune/dnb combo at any given time of the day. ^

NemesisTheory responds:

U SO CRAY!

But thanks! And yeah, that BPM thing is out of my hands. This wasn't supposed to be a cohesive track or anything (although they do oddly fit together nicely one after another, BPM switch aside) so stuff like that can happen ;-)

More of this is definitely possible... you know I love Mega Man! And I'm not alone in that either, hahah!

Thanks for the review! <3

I still find it curious how someone with your skill, choice of genre(s) and consistance doesn't have more followers ;s

Envyfication? Beat Beatdown? Beatslam, beatslammed, slambeat? I don't know, good luck :] And it's sounding great so far :9

Aight, first my feelings on the "wbfblbwlb" parts of the Aaaaaaah, this is a tough I don't know dude, I how it kinda opens for a transission it if that makes sense(obviously I have no idea how to say that in music maker knowledge, I just know what I but I really don't like dubstep :p I mean the project you uploaded a wh-holy shhhhuffle it's been long! As I was saying before though, the project you uploaded before had some dubstepish element in it, and I wasn't 100% on that part either, although it did add to the attractive feeling of chaos in it. Like all-around this track is amazing, but I'm not entirely sure if I like how the dubstep affects this tune. I'm fairly sure that'd just be me as I'm not a fan of dubstep at all, I'm gonna have my friend check out this song and tell me what he thinks, he's likes dubstep and I'm assuming he'll love those elements of and the parts that I love that I'm about to go talking about. Patience. Aight, aside from all that whatever y'might call Oh my God, stuff that wasn't all "wbfblbwlb" are amazing. You know the soft-ish parts, the piano parts, the part where it speeds up the pace a little, the part where it slows it back down, oh my God, it's catchy, it's dark, suddenly happy, I mean there are just so many feelings and so can I say movement without knowing what I'm pointing out? Of course I can, I've already written half a novel in this "review" field. I'd say there's a touch of your style, it's just sooooo difficult to determine what your style is like because you do soooo much different! I don't know, I should probably wrap this up. I haven't written one of these in while. Jeeze if they just allowed swearing in the audio portal expressing oneself would've been so much easier >_< I'mna leave it at 5/5. I can't say it's 4/5 just because I don't like the "wbfblbwlb", I mean they were probably put in there for a reason, I just don't feel ya on it. Guys, you did hella well. Don't make the wait x months again please, I wuv you guys and despite having a BUNCH of Nemesistheory to listen to there can never be enough. Aight, here's the novel, I'm charging $15.99 for it. I'll send you my paypal on Twitter. no I know, not funny.)

Non-novel version: sik wubz gief moar pl0x u owe me muneez kthxbai. heaaaarts! :D

NemesisTheory responds:

Cool story bro!

-- Haha j/k. I'm glad you took the time to listen through the song, even though the step' isn't your genre of choice. We always wanted to try dubstep, and this is basically what came rolling out without lollygagging about it (see: Gift of Despair demo). xD

I definitely know people would appreciate having the more classic DigiE/Symphonic Storms stuff in there too, the calm parts where it builds up with a piano support. I'm happy you pointed out you liked that stuff, makes me happy it's there to compensate for the wobs ^^

Next time won't be in another 6 months, don't worry :D

Thanks for the novel! Me gusta. ;o

SIK DROP BRO!!!... No but really, love the sounds and feelings in the song, I like the sorta victory theme this entire song pretty much is. I like the short pauses a lot, feels like it kind of takes you into a new section of the song.

It sort of feels like the whole thing is saying the same thing over and over again, but that's okay, as it feels like does that in in a different way and maybe to/from different personalities within the song, so it just doesn't become boring or monotone. I'm glad you managed to make it as different as you did.

Some parts seem like they're happening in a more closed environment with friends, family, good food(I love good food ._.) and lots and lots of dancing and alcohol, while others seem more like epic, grand, marching or maybe sailing home, with less partying and more silent excitement over what has happened in the past.

I also love that it's so long as it is(that's what she said), and you mentioned you didn't feel you got it flowing as well? I very much agree with that, but although they could pretty much have been split up and released as separate songs I don't think it'd be worth it at all. I hope to see more songs like this and Sanctuary later on, as they are reeeally friggin good. I sort of wish I could just copy the sound and paste it as text that would explain the epicness within it, because dayum dude. You nailed this one really well.

P.S. Can I just say that I'm really glad I made it through the review without it containing comparisons to Sanctuary? xD

Step responds:

Hey, great to see you again!

"SIK DROP BRO!!!... No but really, love the sounds and feelings in the song, I like the sorta victory theme this entire song pretty much is. I like the short pauses a lot, feels like it kind of takes you into a new section of the song."

Yeah this does have a sense of victory to it, especially towards the end where the victory is really wrapped up. The Monster Hunter Tri main theme inherently sounds victorious with all that majestic brass and the warm string section!

Also short pauses are awesome when done right.

"It sort of feels like the whole thing is saying the same thing over and over again, but that's okay, as it feels like does that in in a different way and maybe to/from different personalities within the song, so it just doesn't become boring or monotone. I'm glad you managed to make it as different as you did."

Well, this is remixing one game's soundtrack, and all the individual segments use the same instrument set (with a few special instruments for certain parts like the piano for the Water Dragon), so it'd naturally feel like it's telling one story. But yeah I'm all for diversity so I hope I made it sound different enough to keep it sounding interesting and new.

"Some parts seem like they're happening in a more closed environment with friends, family, good food(I love good food ._.)"

Don't we all!

"and lots and lots of dancing and alcohol, while others seem more like epic, grand, marching or maybe sailing home, with less partying and more silent excitement over what has happened in the past."

Yeah, if you look at the video of it I posted on YouTube you might see this contrast. The part at 2:51 is especially more of a festive theme than the rest of the song.

"I also love that it's so long as it is(that's what she said)"

Mhmm I always ideas of making a medley of one of my favourite games ever, and I think it did cum a really long way!

"and you mentioned you didn't feel you got it flowing as well? I very much agree with that, but although they could pretty much have been split up and released as separate songs I don't think it'd be worth it at all."

Yeah, the whole point of a medley is to bring different things together. Maybe I didn't do it so smoothly in some parts, but hey it's not easy bringing entirely different melodies together :P.

"I hope to see more songs like this and Sanctuary later on, as they are reeeally friggin good. I sort of wish I could just copy the sound and paste it as text that would explain the epicness within it, because dayum dude. You nailed this one really well."

Aww thank you! I've got another song in the works right now for a school project which is kinda orchestral but at this point I'm not sure which direction it'll take. We'll see what happens.

"P.S. Can I just say that I'm really glad I made it through the review without it containing comparisons to Sanctuary? xD"

Haha well I can see the similarities. Although I think this is probably a lot 'happier' and more victorious than Sanctuary which is always in a super serious tone.

Thanks a lot for reviewing, I appreciate it!
